NFL rivalries starting to heat up

Like most sports there are always rivalries and hatred that play a big part in games. In baseball you have the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox, in college basketball there is Duke vs. UNC. But in the NFL there is not one rivalry game there are many. When it comes to the NFL you don’t just hate one team you dislike every team in your division.

Some of the best divisional rivalries will take place this weekend when the Miami Dolphins head to New England to face the Patriots. It’s obvious these two teams don’t like each other; Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter has already started the verbal assault on the patriots 2 days before game time. Porter is still upset about the accusations against the Patriots for the whole Spy gate incident of 2007 in which Patriots scouting staff was caught video taping the New York Jets hand signals from the sidelines. While the Patriots have been reprimanded for the incident many teams still feel they will cheat to win. From the Patriots perspective they feel the Dolphins are just trying to stir up anything to get the Patriots out of their rhythm.

Another divisional game that many will watch is the Sunday night primetime game between the Philadelphia eagles and the Dallas Cowboys. Both teams started the season off horrible, but have turned it around and are tied at 5-2 and sit on top of the NFC East division. The Eagles have shown over the last 3 games that they can score in seconds thanks to the swift footed DeSean Jackson who has 6 touchdowns of over 50 yards this season. The Cowboys who are riding of the surprising play of wide receiver Miles Austin despite quarterback Tony Romo’s erratic play but when it counts he has been able to get the job done.

These are just two of the many divisional games to look forward too this weekend. Also the Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints look to both remain undefeated but face challenging opponents this weekend. The Colts face the Houston Texans and the Saints face the Carolina Panthers.

Army Major killed 13 at Ft Hood

Residents of Fort Hood Texas went through one of the worst experiences you could ever go through yesterday. Troubled army Major Nadal Malik Hasan opened fire on the military base he once called home that left 13 people dead and 30 wounded in the hospital. Witness recall hearing him yelling ”Allahu Akbar” Arabic for “God is Great” while shooting that led to the army base being lockdown. Hasan a devoted Muslim who many close to him described him as a quite guy that kept to himself, are very shocked that he would commit such a terrible crime.

The reasons for the attack are still unclear, but family members and colleagues close to Hasan say that he’s had a hard time dealing with his upcoming deployment to Iraq. His aunt also noted that every since 911 he has been getting a lot of negative attention for being a Muslim in the army, and he has been trying to get out of the army ever since he found out he was being deployed.

Being a soldier you know you have a great chance of being sent overseas, and Hasan who was working as an army psychiatrist got to see first hand what the war did to soldiers returning. He dealt with many soldiers on a daily bases that could not get over the events that took place during their tour to Iraq. Just from what Hasan witnessed from his patients distress he urged high ranking officials to allow him to go to Afghanistan instead of Iraq or be let out of the army, even offering to pay back his school tuition that he received from the military to become a psychiatrist.

Army commander’s keep saying that they did not see this coming, but obviously there where signs that something was wrong with him. He often sought counseling and treatment to help him deal with his upcoming deployment issues. About 6 months ago investigators found Internet postings and articles detailing suicide bombers and other threats they thought were connected to Hasan, but had not opened a full investigation on him before yesterday’s tragedy.

Raw Apple Cider Vinegar-Mother Nature's Remedy!

Okay all of you “health nuts” out there… you’re eating your share of fruits and vegetables and drinking your milk (all organic of course). Are you taking your daily dose of raw apple cider vinegar with the mother? Whose mother? What? You’re probably questioning why you would take 2 tbsp. of something as bizarre as apple cider vinegar every morning. When most of us think of vinegar we associate it with salad dressing or marinades, maybe even something you’d use to wash the floors in your house! You’ll be amazed when you learn about just how handy this is to have at home and how beneficial it can be to your over all health.

First let’s talk about the many uses of apple cider vinegar. Did you know that you can use it to wash your hair and the smell goes away in five minutes? That’s right. All the ladies out there are probably gagging thinking about pouring stinky vinegar in their lovely locks as I did when I first heard of it. Believe it or not this is better for your hair than the most expensive shampoos. The trick is to scrub your scalp and work your way down your hair with baking soda! Rinse the baking soda out of your hair then pour on the vinegar and massage it through and rinse again. This will clean your hair better than any shampoo out there and it is so much cheaper! Shampoos and conditioners contain alcohol that can dry out your hair and other ingredients that can leave a film behind. Unless they’re organic they most likely contain propylene glycol, a chemical found in antifreeze and poisonous if consumed in large quantities. This is just one of the uses for apple cider vinegar.

My bathroom tub is constantly getting clogged with hair even though I have the slotted drain that is meant to catch most of it. My hair is just past my shoulders and my daughter’s goes all the way to the bottom of her back so, of course, there is always hair left over from bath time and showers. I use this vinegar to wash my hair twice a week and the rest of the week I use organic shampoo and conditioner. My tub drains perfectly now that the vinegar is working its way down the drain every once in a while. Pouring just a little down the kitchen and bathroom sink and tub once a week will get rid of excess build-up in your pipes and they will be less likely to get clogged. This is basically the way apple cider vinegar works in our bodies when we consume it.

Apple cider vinegar with the mother helps to clean the inside of our bodies as well as the outside. It helps to break down fat and aids in digestion, making it easier for our bodies to rid of waste. It helps to clear your colon walls of many years worth of built-up toxins when you take just 2 tbsp. a day. Folks trying to lose a few pounds will be amazed by how easy it will be to shed some weight when you get rid of toxins that have made themselves at home in your body. People who do not need to lose weight don’t need to worry because the only weight that will be lost will be the trash that your body doesn’t need. If your body is not toxic and in need of some waste management, you won’t lose weight and you will have an easier time maintaining your figure.

Here are some of the many things that can be helped with apple cider vinegar with the mother:

  • High cholesterol
  • High blood pressure (I kid you not when I state that my husband’s high blood pressure is gone and we attribute it to this vinegar)
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Acid Reflux
  • Gout
  • Arthritis
  • Acne (It also gives pale people like me some color on their cheeks!)
  • Colds
  • Allergies (Taken at the first sign of a cold or allergy, this vinegar may stop it dead in its tracks!)
  • Flu
  • Sinus infections (This vinegar thins mucus immediately helping you to fight the infection!)

You will reap the most benefits by consuming Bragg's Raw Apple Cider Vinegar with "The Mother". This type of vinegar is the purest in the market as it is derived from crushed apples that have been aged in oak barrels. “The mother” is the sediment floating at the bottom of the bottle from the fermentation process it has undergone in the barrels. Raw ACV with the mother is not pasteurized, distilled or refined. These processes destroy the cider’s benefits. Not everything that is great for you looks and tastes as good as it works. The vinegar is strong but certainly worth it, so take a deep breath and a quick swig and your body will thank you for it!

3-D TV’s will be available as soon as Next year

It’s amazing how many new 3-D movies came out in theaters this year, there was Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs, G Force, Monsters vs. Aliens, My Bloody Valentine and much more. With the movies being in 3-D many movie watchers raced to the theaters to get the full effect of the movie. In a time where the economy and especially the film industry was losing money 3-D movies have done very well this year.

Still some movie fans prefer to watch movies at home from the comfort of their own couch once it’s released on DVD even though they lose all of the 3-D effects they would have seen at the theater. But thanks to technology constantly improving pretty soon you will be able watch 3-D movies in your home.

With consumers constantly looking for bigger and better technology, television makers are working on 3-D televisions for in home use. Already two major companies Sony, and Panasonic are on the verge of releasing they’re brands in the beginning of 2010 while Mitsubishi and JVC are hoping to add their versions by the end of 2010.

Even as manufacturers look to increase their sales with the newest technology, there will always be skeptics. Studies show that many people complain of severe headaches from watching 3-D movies, others are worried about the price. While the whole 3-D television craze maybe in its initial stages several networks like ESPN are already trying to see what sports programming will look like through the 3-D lenses. Soon not only will you have the option to watch NFL football games in HD, but 3-D also.

Yankees win number 27

As the last out was made and the flood gates opened as the entire New York Yankees team ran towards the mound to celebrate, there was no “Sweet Caroline” by Neil Diamond playing over the speakers instead it was some Sinatra followed by Jay Z and Alicia Keys "Empire state of Mind" as the Bronx Bombers once again moved back to the top of the threshold by defeating last year world Series champions Philadelphia Phillies in game 6 by the final score of 7-3.

Winning the World Series in the way the Yankees did proved a lot of doubters wrong. Going into the post season everyone expected Alex Rodriguez to once again not deliver, which he quickly put to rest on his way to almost winning the ALCS MVP award. Red sox nation was hoping the rumors of the still buried Red Sox Jerseys under the new Yankee stadium by construction workers hoping to curse the team would help the Phillies win. Well maybe they should have buried more jerseys because while the Yankees are celebrating the Red Sox are two weeks into they’re off-season vacations and Curt Schilling is still complaining on any radio station he can.

Yes the Yankees may have the biggest pay roll in baseball but professional teams are not put together to end they’re seasons in September everyone wants to win, some teams just go above and beyond to get there. The pay roll maybe big but it takes great players to step up in big moments as Hideki Matsui who’s salary is tied for eighth on the Yankees pay roll took home the MVP trophy after his 6 RBI night.

With the win the Yankees are now tied with the Red Sox as the only to teams in the decade to win two World Series titles. The last time the Yankees won was in 2000, but unlike most teams they still have 4 players still on the roster from that season Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Jorge Posada, and Andy Pettitte who left briefly to play for his hometown Houston Astros but missed the Yankees so much he had to return. All four players helped win the World Series in 2000 and all four helped last night.

It was a great win for baseballs most storied franchise as they have now finally reached title number 27. For the next couple of days or months the team and city will be enjoying their latest victory, but this is a business and the Yankees are faced with a hard decision. Do they bring back Johnny Damon who had a good post season until he strained his calf muscle in last nights win. Or do they keep the World Series MVP Matsui as a DH and go out and find another outfielder to replace Damon. One thing is for sure as long as Matsui is on the team not only will the Yankees have a huge fan base in America that generates revenue, but millions more In Japan will continue to follow the man they call “Godzilla”.

McNair Jr going to Southern Miss

It’s been a rough year for Steve McNair Jr and the rest of the McNair family. Not only did he and his brothers lose their Father but they had to witness as the rest of the world found out on every news channel like CNN, ABC, and Fox News the detailed story of their slain hero. Not many kids could bounce back and make it through a rough time like that without acting out emotionally or physically. But just like his father McNair Jr is very poised, calm and very good at handling tough situations when things fall out of place.

Having a NFL father that was often seen in the spotlight is hard enough, but growing up playing the same sport as him you are guaranteed to get compared to him all your life. One thing that helped McNair Jr was the fact that he plays wide receiver while his dad was a prolific quarterback. By playing a different position it helped him shape his own future not one many expected for him if he had been a quarterback also.

Going into his senior year McNair Jr had just lost his Father and he had at least 8 major division 1 schools recruiting him. When his father was there, it made the process easier for him knowing that his dad went through the same thing coming out of high school. Now without him he is left to face the process on his own, he does have the support of his family behind him but it is not the same as the piece that’s missing.

One of the problems of not committing to a school early in your senior year is you still get hammered by phone calls, and text messages from coaches that want you to come play for them, and it does not stop until you make your decision. Just when his last year as a high school football player was about to end McNair Jr committed to Southern Mississippi University.

Some thought he may go to Alcorn State like his father, but Southern Miss was closer to his family and it’s also where his fathers Foundation hosts a free football clinic every summer. Now that he has selected a school he can focus more on trying to become his own person while at the same time continue to make his father proud on the football field.

Organic Noni Juice-BBC-RDF-TV

Do you love watching television shows about health topics? I’m a fan of networks such as Discovery Health, BBC and RFD-TV because they, along with local and national news and health magazines, keep me updated on ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I learned about the benefits of organic Noni juice while reading a magazine from my local health food store and have been drinking it here and there ever since. I just had to share it with those of you health conscious people who have not yet heard about this miracle juice.

Noni fruit grows from trees that are part of the coffee family. Tahiti is well known for this fruit as it is more abundant there, but it also grows in French Polynesia, the Indian subcontinent, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Costa Rica. The trees can grow up to 30 feet tall and boast large green leaves along with the green Noni fruit. People living in the Pacific Islands eat Noni fruit as a “famine fruit” or a regular staple. It contains many seeds that can be eaten more easily when cooked. The fruit is consumed both in raw form and after it has been cooked.

The most nutritional part of the Noni fruit is located in the pulp as the fruit contains mostly Vitamin C. This entire little 6 cm fruit can yield the following: Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Potassium, Iron, Calcium, Niacin and Carbohydrates. Noni fruit also contains the following phytochemicals that offer many health benefits: fatty acids, alkaloids, lignans, polysaccharides, iridoids, flavanoids and more! So what do all of these wonderful nutrients do?

We’ve learned about the benefits of many vitamins but equally important, if not vital, are phytochemicals. These are naturally occurring chemicals found in fruit and vegetables that can make a marked improvement on your health when consumed on a regular basis. Let’s look at just a few, starting with fatty acids. The words “fatty acids” would probably frighten people away who don’t know their benefits. Fatty acids help to distribute oxygen throughout your body through your blood stream. They are “cell food” because they work hard to repair damaged cells and add strength to your tissue and organs. Ladies, you know you would love to find the fountain of youth. Fatty acids are great for cell regeneration and work to fight the effects of aging. Want to lose a few pounds? Fatty acids help your body break down cholesterol and keep your thyroid functioning properly. They help to regulate blood pressure and strengthen your immune system! This ingredient alone is enough for me to run out and buy a bottle of Noni.

As if fatty acids weren’t enough, you will also reap amazing health benefits from lignans. Lignans are currently being studied for their ability to fight cancer, more notably, breast and colon cancer. Most cancers grow in estrogen. If there is already a decent amount of estrogen in the body, lignans replace the existing hormone and push it from the cells. This is one of the ways lignans may protect us against breast cancer and other cancers. Lignans can also be found in flaxseed, pumpkin seeds and cranberries. Some animal studies have already received favorable findings.

These are just two of the many beneficial nutrients found in the Noni fruit. Imagine what a combination this is when it is attached to all of the other vitamins and phytochemicals! You can find organic Noni juice at your local health food store. Make sure that the label states that it is organic because it is slightly expensive and you don’t want to pay for a juice that has been diluted. Hold your breath each day as you gulp down an ounce of this powerful fruit juice. You will wake up with a spring in your step, clear and calm thoughts and energy! More importantly, you’ll be on your way to a healthier you!

Celebrities Ridiculed for Expressing Themselves

Have you ever noticed that the most creative and self-expressive celebrities are some of the most ridiculed in the business? Why can’t music artists, actors, etc. express themselves with the way they look just as much as they do when they are showing off their talent? You go online or happen upon the Style Network or E! Entertainment Television and all you hear about is who was dressed like what and how appealing or appalling their style is. Have a sense of art people. Think of how boring it would be to walk down the street and see everyone wearing uniforms instead of sporting their own look! It’s okay if someone’s style is not aesthetically pleasing to you. This is why you have your own style.

Lady Gaga is one of the most criticized in the business because she is practically a piece of walking performance art. “Oh my gracious! Did you see Lady Gaga on the awards last night with her lacey face?!” Obviously you did and your babbling and complaining about what she was wearing gives her nothing but public acknowledgement and fame. I commend Lady for her music, character, confidence and the fact that she is a great businesswoman- not completely unlike Madonna. She will have me as her fan no matter what she wears as long as she keeps making innovative music!

What’s going on with Adam Lambert fans? You vote for the guy to win American Idol (which he should have), he becomes successful and releases the cover to his new CD and what do his fans have to say? “It’s gay…it looks like Elvis Presley in Drag” or, “It doesn’t really show how fierce or awesome Adam is”. If you check out his cover you will see a close up of Adam wearing well-defined eye makeup and a little hint of lipstick. He looks so beautiful that I don’t know whether I’m completely attracted to him or if I want to look like him! He did the cover as an 80’s tribute and it is obvious that he captured that style very well. He is inspired by eighties music. It’s what makes him tick and it’s part of who he is. Why is it wrong to reflect this? Is it because Adam appears androgynous that makes people nervous?

There is nothing wrong with proudly displaying who you are as a person. There is a time and a place to be completely open with who you are and celebrities have many great opportunities to show what they’re made of. They’re telling you who they are and what inspires them so try to cut them some slack and show your support. After all, variety is the spice of life!

Upcoming Movies in Theaters-The Box-2012

Looking forward to heading to the theaters for some excitement? There are a few interesting upcoming movies set to arrive within the next few weeks so I decided to take a closer look at what we can expect to see at the movies before the end of the month. This is a great season for those of you who love thrillers. It seems that the Halloween spirit is lasting a little longer this year. We usually get bombarded with horror movies and mysteries during the month of October but it didn’t seem like we had too many choices this year. Not to worry there is plenty more horrifying fun to come!

The Fourth Kind opens this weekend (November 6) starring Milla Jovovich. This film looks creepy and mysterious. Jovovich plays a psychologist conducting a sleep study on a group of people in Nome, Alaska. She comes across an unexpected challenge when she discovers that her patients believe aliens abducted them. When I watched the trailer I was taken aback by the way they captured the patients while they were being hypnotized. They looked possessed and petrified. The directing is similar to Paranormal Activity with the home video type deal. This style of filming is really making a comeback. It’s very daring for directors to take on a project like this because this style can make or break a movie. Let’s hope it adds character to the film. The acting in this movie looks decent and it is supposedly based on a true unsolved mystery. I’m in!

This isn’t the only thriller coming to town this week. The Box with Cameron Diaz is also scheduled for release on Friday the 6th. This movie could go either way. It might be an average film glamorized by the inclusion of popular actors or it could make us question our own moral beliefs leading to a very interesting film. The plot sounds appealing but it appears to be laid out on the table and I’m not sure where the suspense will come from unless the story takes a turn and surprises us. Basically, Diaz is a teacher married to a NASA engineer and they have a son. One day, she finds a disfigured stranger at her door with “The Box” in hand along with a proposition. She can press the button and receive a million dollars (somehow) but someone she doesn’t know will die. I think we can guess what she decides to do. The question is, will the punishment be limited to the death of a person unknown to her if she presses the button, or will there be harsher consequences? I’m a Cameron Diaz fan so I’m hoping this flick is much better than anticipated.

George Clooney has managed to star in yet another bizarre film. Only Clooney can make wacky choices like this and walk away from it unscathed. As if the movies Leatherheads and Oh Brother Where Art Thou weren’t enough, he does it again with The Men Who Stare at Goats! If the cast wasn’t completely star-studded I’m sure that this film wouldn’t gain half the popularity it has received thus far. I’m thinking that Clooney as well as costars Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges will carry the weight of the movie and at least offer us some great acting and funny moments. It’s based on the true story of the military trying to train Special Forces agents to have paranormal abilities. They practice by staring at goats and concentrating on them until the goats drop dead. They practice this as well as reading people’s minds to eventually use their gifts in the war. The guys get a little too confident in their ability thinking they can use it with everything. One of them disappears and the others go searching for him, attempting to use their gifts along the way and taking the audience for a comical ride in the process. This is a dark comedy that, in spite of its wacky name, may be worth a glance.

The release of 2012 is set for next weekend (November 13). Let the terror continue- at least until the holiday season! This big budget sci-fi adventure stars John Cusack and takes us into the future to the time of the apocalypse. We’ve watched movies with similar plots before but this one is unique since it was taken from predictions in the ancient Mayan calendar. The effects look tremendous and the acting should be favorable. I’m hoping that the effects don’t take up the whole movie. I prefer for the plot to build and to get to know the characters before the madness begins. This film will be awesome if it was done right. Let’s hope the events don’t start right from the get-go and lose their flair toward the end of the movie. I want to be drawn in and completely concerned for the characters before they are faced with the danger of losing their lives. The thing that holds my interest the most is the fact that I am very curious as to how it will end. Will it really be the end of the world and will the characters die in the end? Will they be the last people on earth once the rest of human kind becomes extinct? Can there be a stop to what looks to be irreparable damage to the earth? I’m going to have to see this right away because I don’t want anyone to blow it and tell me what happens in the end!

Needless to say, it looks like the next few weeks will be huge for the box office with a collage of different movies to choose from. You will have access to everything from horror to Disney's A Christmas Carol with Jim Carrey. It certainly looks like there will be something for everyone. I will be at the theater Friday night to catch The Fourth Kind because, if you’ve read my blogs, you’d know that I couldn’t pass up a decent thriller! If you love horror movies as much as I do, then there is no better television service to have than Dish Network Satellite TV! Dish has Showtime Beyond, a huge seller for me because it’s all horror all the time! You don’t need to go to the movies every week to have the best entertainment. Movie fans have many premium channels to choose from including Encore. The Encore premium channels have movies of every genre and you don’t even need to pay extra for them when you have the Classic Gold 250 package! Have fun at the movies and be sure to check out Dish for built-in theater style entertainment in the comfort of your own home!
