2009-10 NBA season starts tonight on Dish Network

There have been a lot of roster changes to NBA teams during the off-season. It seems now more than ever many teams have loaded up their roster to try and make it to the NBA finals. One of the top acquisitions this year was Rasheed Wallace leaving  Detroit Pistons to head to the Boston Celtics. The defending champions L.A Lakers have picked up one of the leagues best defenders in Ron Artest from the Houston Rockets. Scoring machine Allen Iverson also bid farewell to Detroit and joined a young Memphis Grizzlies. And probably the biggest move this off-season, Shaquille O’Neal left the Phoenix Suns to help Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers try to bring a NBA championship to Ohio.

Tonight features 4 games to kickoff the season.

Boston at Cleveland 7:30pm TNT

Washington at Dallas 8:30pm Fox South West

Houston at Portland 10pm Fox Sports Net Houston

Titans Owner wants Young to start

Anybody who watched the Tennessee Titans get destroyed by the New England Patriots 59-0 on CBS 2 weeks ago knows that the Titans need to change something. Starting quarterback Kerry Collins only has 5 touchdown passes this year along with 8 interceptions, but it is not necessarily his fault, the wide receivers have dropped a lot of passes this year.

Team Owner Bud Adams is now verbally telling head coach Jeff fisher and the rest of the world that he wants backup QB Vince Young to start this weekend against Jacksonville. Young was drafted out of Texas as the future franchise QB, but off field problems led to him being benched last year. Now they’re almost halfway through the 2009 season and the Titans or 0-6, Adams feels like the team needs a change or a spark and he feels Young can provide that.

So far Fisher has yet to acknowledge whether or not he will give Young the start even though it seems like it might be in his best interest. Fisher is already receiving a lot of heat for the team not being able to win a game this year after going 13-3 last year during the regular season. Titans fans are also upset with Fisher for wearing a Peyton Manning jersey to a fundraiser with ex Indianapolis colts coach Tony Dungy.

Over the years critics have completely ripped Young apart about his throwing motions, and abilities to read a defense. But one thing they can’t take away is he knows how to win games. In his rookie year he had a starting record of 8-3 after taking over the helm when the team started 0-5 and also went on to win rookie of the year. He is probably one of the only quarterbacks that can consistently win a game while throwing under 200-yards a game. His mobility in the pocket opens up a lot of other options for an offense that just can’t seem to go anywhere.

As of now Collins will be the starter for this weeks game, and he better be able to produce early in the game, or he could be looking at a quick exit off of the field along with fisher.

The Eagles knocked off the Redskins on Monday night

Last night game on ESPN featured two NFC East teams looking to rebound from upsetting losses last week. Anytime the Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Redskins meet up the game is usually a hard hitting battle that goes down to the end of the wire. But last night game was not even close to a battle, if anything it was two teams struggling to find their own identity.

Even though the Eagles won the game 27-17 they only had 11 first downs and really struggled to move the ball down the field against a tough Redskins defense. The difference maker in the game was WR DeSean Jackson of the Eagles, who took a reverse handoff from Donovan Mcnabb and out ran the entire Redskin Defense for a 67-yard touchdown. Then right before halftime he got wide open and caught a 57-yard touchdown pass.

The Redskins on the other hand could not get anything going they committed 4 turnovers included one interception that got returned for a touchdown. Everything that could go wrong went wrong for the Redskins offense. Sometimes QB Jason Campbell looked like he was the only one playing and other times he was just way out of sync with his receivers. Things got even worse for the Redskins when star tight end Chris Cooley broke his right ankle and had to be carried off the field.

In all the game only featured two great defenses trying to carry their offenses throughout the game, and will not be a game that either team should be proud of. Luckily for the Eagles it does look like running back Brian Westbrook will be back next week against the NY Giants. Westbrook sustained a concussion when he was hit in the back of the head by London Fletcher’s knee in the first quarter while being tackled.

Dish Network customers see beyond FIOS schemes

With the TV market place getting more and more competitive that has Dish Network rising, others like Verizon FIOS is taking a huge hit. FIOS was suppose to be the next big thing to come to TV, it sounded good and people were lining up to get service whenever it became available in they’re area. But once customers started to see it was not what they thought it would be, all the Buzz surrounding it died.

While Verizon was counting on FIOS to help grow they’re customer base along with wireless and home phone service. Customers quickly saw past the fake promises, which caused Verizon third quarter profits to fall below $2.89 billion. The company predicted at least 250,000 new customers in the third quarter but was only able to reach 191,000.

After FIOS last failed promotion offering a free notebook from Hewlett Packard to all new FIOS customers that led to a loss. They are trying to put together another plan to try and lure in more unsuspecting customers. But as they keep trying Dish network will remain the leader in HD and cost savings for you and your family.

Dish Networks MTV’s Star Maker Winner announced

For those of you music fans, and reality TV junkies who have been watching MTV’s Star Maker since the end of Fox American Idol season got to witness a first. Last night in the season finale Liz Davis out sung her two remaining opponents to become the first country singer to sign with Bad Boy records.

The show featured 15 musicians from all types of genres competing for the chance to win a deal with P Diddy record label Bad Boy. The show was hosted by former American Idol contestant Kimberly Caldwell, and featured celebrity guest judges Lady Gaga, Pussycat Dolls lead singer Nicole Scherzinger, Kelly Rowland (Destiny’s Child), and Pete Wentz (Fall Out Boy).

In the finale Davis was able to win over the judges who seemed to favor both punk soul singer Melody Angel, and rocker Todd Savies throughout the season. But when it was all said and done Davis country ballad of “Redneck Woman” won over the crowd and the judges.

This marks a first in the history of Bad Boy records, which is known as a Hip Hop and R&B label, but thanks to Davis amazing singing talent the label will also be adding country music to its genres of music. With all the speculation that Bad Boy was heading in a new direction the signing of Davis confirms that. If anybody can help her its Diddy, who already has three shows airing yearly on MTV and is always in the spotlight whether we like him or not.

The show actually finished taping last year, and was filmed with two endings just to make sure there were no leaks about the outcome. The finalist just found out last night with America who the official winner was.

Yesterday’s NFL games were filled with many exciting moments starting with the New England Patriots giving the winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers another loss in London England. The undefeated Indianapolis Colts cruised to another victory over the St. Louis Rams. After coming out strong, running the mystery Wildcat offense the Miami Dolphins blew a 24-10 halftime lead to the New Orleans Saints who remain undefeated thanks to the long jumping abilities of Reggie Bush who flew 7 yards over a Dolphins defender into the end zone. The Steelers were able to score two defensive 4th quarter touchdowns to send the Vikings packing to Green Bay next week.

Can You Guess Who This Famous Woman Is?-Biography-Lifetime

To learn more about women in history check out The History Channel, Biography and Lifetime on Dish Network Satellite TV!

Can you guess who this famous woman is in film history with these quotes?

“I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when their right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together."

“Before marriage, a girl has to make love to a man to hold him. After marriage, she has to hold him to make love to him.”

“Dogs never bite me. Just humans.”

"The truth is I've never fooled anyone. I've let people fool themselves. They didn't bother to find out who and what I was. Instead they would invent a character for me. I wouldn't argue with them. They were obviously loving someone I wasn't. When they found this out, they would blame me for disillusioning them and fooling them."

“Hollywood is a place where they'll pay you a thousand dollars for a kiss and fifty cents for your soul.”

“I've been on a calendar, but I've never been on time.”

"I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best."

"If you're gonna be two-faced at least make one of them pretty."

"Well behaved women rarely make history."
