Titans Owner wants Young to start

Anybody who watched the Tennessee Titans get destroyed by the New England Patriots 59-0 on CBS 2 weeks ago knows that the Titans need to change something. Starting quarterback Kerry Collins only has 5 touchdown passes this year along with 8 interceptions, but it is not necessarily his fault, the wide receivers have dropped a lot of passes this year.

Team Owner Bud Adams is now verbally telling head coach Jeff fisher and the rest of the world that he wants backup QB Vince Young to start this weekend against Jacksonville. Young was drafted out of Texas as the future franchise QB, but off field problems led to him being benched last year. Now they’re almost halfway through the 2009 season and the Titans or 0-6, Adams feels like the team needs a change or a spark and he feels Young can provide that.

So far Fisher has yet to acknowledge whether or not he will give Young the start even though it seems like it might be in his best interest. Fisher is already receiving a lot of heat for the team not being able to win a game this year after going 13-3 last year during the regular season. Titans fans are also upset with Fisher for wearing a Peyton Manning jersey to a fundraiser with ex Indianapolis colts coach Tony Dungy.

Over the years critics have completely ripped Young apart about his throwing motions, and abilities to read a defense. But one thing they can’t take away is he knows how to win games. In his rookie year he had a starting record of 8-3 after taking over the helm when the team started 0-5 and also went on to win rookie of the year. He is probably one of the only quarterbacks that can consistently win a game while throwing under 200-yards a game. His mobility in the pocket opens up a lot of other options for an offense that just can’t seem to go anywhere.

As of now Collins will be the starter for this weeks game, and he better be able to produce early in the game, or he could be looking at a quick exit off of the field along with fisher.
