Fox Business Network signs deal with MobiTV

MobiTV, global television and digital radio service provider for mobile phone users and Fox Business Network has entered a deal to serve a live channel of the Networks contents on MobiTV. The mobile television audience of MobiTV will be offered contents of Fox Business Networks Money for Breakfast, Happy Hour, The Opening Bell, Fox Business Morning, and The Dave Ramsey Show on Fox Business and America's Nightly Scoreboard on their Mobile.
“Placing Fox Business Network content on MobiTV helps us reach the fast-growing mobile television audience,” said Tim Carry, senior vice president of affiliate relations, Fox Business Network, in a statement. “We are pleased to partner with MobiTV to bring breaking business and financial news to viewers.”
 

ESPN will broadcast live coverage of Masters Tournament

This year ESPN will go for its live coverage of the first two rounds of the Masters Tournament with expansive live event coverage, highlights, news and information and analysis on different ESPN broadcast channels. First and second round would be covered by ESPN and ESPN HD. ESPN's Spanish language U.S. sports network of ESPN Deportes will also present the first and second rounds live. ESPN's websites ESPN.com and ESPN360.com will also provide the Masters Tournament.
 

Starz reveals New Logo and Tag Line as a Rebranding Initiative

Starz Entertainment revealed a $25 million rebranding and marketing initiative that it hopes will shine a brighter light on the movie-centric premium service, with a new logo, a new on-air look and an integrated advertising campaign on-airand online. This campaign is will help drive home to viewers the numerous entertainment options it delivers over various platforms. New Starz logo will be aired from April 2 and from 7th April Starz will roll out three 30-second television spots touting the tagline and the new logo on syndicated entertainment programs such as Access Hollywood and Entertainment Tonight, as well as during such NBC late-night shows as The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, said McGee. In addition, the spots will run on several cable networks, running for six weeks
 

'Prison Break' Getting a Fourth Season

Ending the speculation, Fox has picked up a fourth season of "Prison Break." With not so much response for the show, the network has ordered for 22 episodes of the show, which will resume its run in the fall. Prison Break's co-executive producer Nick Santora heralded the news on his Myspace blog: "We got word on Wednesday that we are officially picked up by the network for Season 4. This is great news. We are all very excited. We are moving offices onto the Fox Studio Lot next week."
 

History Channel name changed to "History"

Nancy Dubuc, the History Channel network’s executive vice president and general manager has said that the network has renamed the channel from "History Channel" to "History". She also said that people refer the channel as History and listings also refer as History, so we wanted this to be the brand name of the channel. The channels website has been www.history.com for several years and now that moving to the name History also makes sense since the channel has extended its brand beyond linear TV, to the Internet.
 

Richard Buchanan of MEGA International will Present Web Conference

Media giant Televisa to Distribute NBC's Telemundo Shows in Mexico

NBC Universal's Spanish-language network 'Telemundo' and Mexican television giant 'Grupo Televisa SA' have reached a ten year strategic content sharing agreement in Mexico. The agreement will allow Televista to broadcast Telemundo-produced programs through variable platforms like home video, video on demand (VOD), mobile phones and internet. This will have a huge boost for Televista as they are the private broadcaster in Mexico. Telemundo’s original programming will be broadcasted by Televisa in Mexico City from April and this will reach more than two million houses.
 

CBS may acquire The Weather Channel

CBS president and CEO Leslie Moonves said that they are financially in good shape to go for some purchase that could fit into the CBS Corporation’s collection of television programming assets. Leslie Moonves was briefing the news men at McGraw-Hill’s Media Summit Thursday morning in New York. He also indicated that they are targeting for content companies and media groups like Facebook and The Weather Channel, both would fit into CBS. He did not elaborate if CBS entered the bidding for The Weather Channel. Not so much debt to mention CBS has $2 billion cash reserves to go for acquisitions.
 

ESPN and HBO lead the Sports Emmy Award Nominations

HBO with 31 nominations and ESPN receiving 27 nominations lead the sports pack in the 29th Annual Sports Emmy Awards on Thursday. NBC with 23 nominations led the broadcast networks, Daytona 500 got Fox 18 nominations and CBS for its Super Bowl coverage had 17. "Oscar de la Hoya-Floyd Mayweather fight" and "De La Hoya/Mayweather 24/7" put HBO in the top, while NBA and Monday Night Football placed ESPN with 27 nominations. The 29th Annual Sports Emmy Awards will be presented on April 28 at Lincoln Center in New York.
 

DIRECTV to deliver VOD by second quarter of the year

Satellite TV is to launch video-on-demand(VOD) service by the second quarter of the year. Satellite TV customers were left without the service, while cable and phone companies are offering the service. Satellite TV wont use terrestrial network but will use digital video recorders(DVR) and broadband connection to provide the service. Satellite TV's most of the customers have high-speed Internet connections so Satellite TV is planning to broadcast the movies through the Internet connection to the set top box apart from selected movies being automatically transmitted to the subscribers DVR's.
