Hannah Storm to co-anchor ESPN's Sportscenter

ESPN will broadcast from Aug. 11 a new live nine-hour ESPN flagship program Sportscenter to be co-anchored by Hannah Storm. ESPN's upfront presentation on Tuesday made a formal announcement of Hannah Storm joining the network. Hannah Storm is an experienced sportscaster and she was the first female sports anchor at CNN in 1989 before moving to NBC Sports in 1992. ESPN expects to draw huge viewership for the live program and also in turn a huge new ad revenue stream for the network. Norby Williamson, executive VP, production for ESPN said "These live SportsCenters will answer fans' call for greater immediacy and interactivity, Going live will allow us to put a fresh perspective on the previous night's games and cover breaking news during the day, all within the traditional SportsCenter approach, which focuses on highlights, scores and news."
 

Telemundo partners with Brazil’s TV Globo On Remake Of ‘El Clon’

Telemundo owned by NBC Universal is partnering with a Brazilian television network Globo to produce "El clon" a successful Brazilian teleseries broadcasted in 2002. The teleseries originally produced in Portuguese and dubbed into Spanish for Telemundo, though, will now be done entirely in Spanish and has been customized for the U.S. Hispanic audience. Telemundo president Don Browne during a news conference Monday morning to present the network’s 2008-2009 lineup said "This agreement is the beginning of a new partnership between the two global content providers."
 

Pop Star Justin Timberlake to produce MTV reality show 'The Phone'

MTV Networks’ has announced during upfront presentation on May 8 that it will air a new reality game show called "The Phone" to be executive-produced by Grammy award-winner pop star Justin Timberlake. The Phone is a reality game show based on a Dutch reality show format in which two contestants will join forces and hit the ground running for a chance to win a big cash prize. Fremantle Media North America will produce the show and will begin in the US in the autumn.
“Genre-busting and reinvention is at the core of what we do, and The Phone does just that,” said MTV executive vice president, programming and series development Tony Disanto in a statement. “We’re turning the reality competition format on its head and plunging the contestants into a real-life Bourne Identity -- not just in the tone and creative, but also in terms of the visual style and pacing. Each week will be an action-packed mini-movie. This is Popcorn TV!”
 

ESPN360.com to stream live video coverage Of Tennis Programming

ESPN360.com will broadcast live coverage of 70 matches from 11 women’s professional tennis events over the next six months as they reached an agreement with Sony Ericsson WTA Tour on May 8, 2008. ESPN began with the coverage of The Qatar Telecom German Open in Berlin and will end with the Sony Ericsson Championships in Doha. “ESPN360.com exists to serve the passions of sports fans, and there are few groups of fans as passionate as the tennis community,” Damon Phillips, vice president, ESPN360.com said in a statement. “Adding such a robust schedule of events that feature the world’s top women’s tennis players will deliver a huge value to millions of tennis fans, as well as to ESPN360.com affiliates.”
 

HBO ordered 'Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Dallas Cowboys'

CBS College Sports Network is available in high-definition in major satellite operators like Satellite TV and on cable. The network is producing major games which also include five Navy games to be presented in HD this fall. CBS College Sports Television Network will provide 2008 NCAA Division I men’s basketball championship and SEC football games in high-definition. BS College Sports Network executive vice president of distribution Bob Rose said "Fans now demand their sports in high-definition and we’re thrilled to bring the HD experience to viewers nationwide, CBS College Sports Network continues to grow across all platforms, and the conversion to HD further demonstrates our commitment to providing fans and distributors with relevant and compelling content on the screens they want to watch it."
 

Fox Soccer Channel’s Toulon International Tournament 2008 coverage

Fox Soccer Channel is to cover Toulon International Tournament 2008 live and exclusively from May 20-29. The tournament to be held in southern France to be participated by world’s top under-23 national teams. This will take place prior to the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing. The tournament will see top teams of 2008 Olympic qualifiers like United States Italy, Ivory Coast, Japan and the Netherlands. Peter Nowak, head coach will select U.S. Under-23 Men's National Team, which will include Major League Soccer and European-based players. Fox Soccer Channel will present the coverage with Netherlands vs. Japan game on Tuesday, May 20 at 12:00 p.m. ET. The final is to be played on Thursday, May 29 at 2:30 p.m. ET.

Gospel Music Channel will compliment most-popular performing moms on the Mother's Day from May 5-11 and will feature “maternal” episodes from Faith & Fame from May 5 at 7.30 PM. On the Mother's Day on May 10 Gospel Music Channel will present “Moms Named Grant." The Channel will wind up the celebration on May 11 at 7:30 pm, with Faith & Fame: Nicole C. Mullen. Faith & Fame will present intimate look into the lives of gospel artists with special concert performances.

NESN will launch an improved version of its Website on Monday, May 5. NESN's new website will give users exclusive access to video clips, pre-game reports and opportunities and will have opportunity to interact with NESN’s CSR. The new website will have an interactive section to participate in live chats with NESN personalities and read exclusive blogs called "The Playground."
“With the convergence of traditional media and the Internet, it was vital that we take this step to develop a full service and interactive Web presence with the fans of New England sports in mind,” Sean McGrail, NESN president, said in a statement. “Our goal is for NESN.com to become the definitive online gathering place for fans of New England sports.”
 

Fox News Channel HD Launching On Thursday

Fox News Channel will launch its HD simulcast channel from 1st May. Fox News vice president of affiliate sales Tim Carry said "Fox News Channel will be a simulcast of Fox News' standard-definition service, We look forward to Fox News HD further enhancing the overall viewing experience of the number one cable news channel by delivering content through state-of-the-art technology.” He also said that the HD network will include overlay displays with national and world headlines and other news, the displays won't be seen on the standard-definition version.
