Dish Network Sacks NFL Network

According to TVPredictions.com, Dish Network yesterday moved the NFL Network from its America's Top 100 Package to its more expensive America's Top 200 Package. The move means that up to four million Dish customers now will not be able to see the football channel, which is owned the National Football League. The decision to move the football channel to a higher programming tier follows a similar move last year by the nation's largest cable operator, Comcast.“We are aware of Dish’s unfortunate decision, which is not in the best interest of its many subscribers who are football fans, especially this week with NFL Network’s exclusive coverage of the scouting combine featuring incoming college players from all over the country,” Dan Masonson, a NFL spokesman, told Broadcasting and Cable Magazine.Yet another reason to order Satellite TV. The NFL Network is available in all programming packages starting at $39.99/mo. There are no extra sports subsciptions or higher priced packages to sign up for. The NFL Network and NFL Network HD can be seen on Satellite TV channel 212.

Great news for golf fanatics like myself. Satellite TV is expected to formally announce Wednesday that it will debut a Masters Mix Channel for all four rounds of play. It will include one channel devoted to Augusta's so-called Amen Corner — holes 11, 12 and 13 — and one devoted to holes 15 and 16. Each of those two will have their own dedicated cameras and announcers.Satellite TV will also offer another channel devoted to tournament highlights, and one carrying ESPN's live coverage of The Masters' first two rounds and then CBS' coverage of the final two rounds. For viewers with the necessary home equipment, all four channels will be viewable simultaneously.Satellite TV says the Masters Mix will be free this year — and stay that way. Enjoy golf fans! If you haven't seen the Masters in High Definition, I think you will be thrilled when you do. It's amazing.

Big Ten Network a gem for sports and HD programming

The Big Ten Network recently made its grand debut on Satellite TV and has lived up to its promise to offer the most High Definition (HD) programming of any sports network. The games are that much more vivid in HD, from the players’ expressions to their intricate athletic movements. Since Satellite TV values both sports programming and HD, the Big Ten Network is a natural partnership. Are you one of 4 million Big Ten alumni or a fan of Big Ten games? Maybe you've moved out of the Midwest and you can only access SEC or PAC10 games on your local channels. Perhaps your local channels don't show your team's games. Whether you live in the eight-state stronghold of the Big Ten or not, the network gives you the key to the most exciting games -- games not broadcast by ABC or ESPN. You’ll have access to 39 football games, including live, exclusive prime time games, over 140 men's and 55 women's basketball games and over 170 Big Ten sporting events like baseball, hockey, volleyball, wrestling, gymnastics, track, soccer and more. A good percentage of this programming is in stunning HD, making the Network right in step with the latest advancements in picture quality.

NASCAR even more stunning in HD!

The NASCAR HotPass is a subscription package available only on Satellite TV. You can’t get this extensive coverage of NASCAR anywhere else. Satellite TV focuses on select drivers, honing in on their stories and performances while still providing a broad overview of the races. Other networks tend to just give a larger picture of the events, but Satellite TV gives an unbelievably close view of the sport, through winding, screeching turns and incredible speeds of over 200 mph. Every week, 28 dedicated cameras follow four top drivers in every race, each with his own channel and team of announcers. Plus, there are two overhead corner cameras providing you with feedback about the drivers’ turns 1 and 3. In addition, a pit box overhead camera and a pit crew shoulder camera give you unique behind-the-scenes access. Did you see Kevin Harvick’s magnificent NASCAR victory in 2007? On February 17, 2008, the 50th running of the Daytona 500 will be upon us. The difference is that this year the NASCAR HotPass will be broadcast in HD. Subscribers who have HD Access ($9.99/month) and HD equipment will see every one of the 36 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races in stunning, razor-sharp clarity. Satellite TV’s committment to HD programming and to sports programming has made this possible. NASCAR is such a popular sport that it deserves the unprecedented image quality that HD offers - life-like with crisp imagery and the most fluid motion. The NASCAR HotPass experience is not like being 50 rows up at the race itself. It’s like having a front-row seat! The interactive features redefine television technology and make for an unforgettable experience. If the NASCAR races have always been on your list of must-see events, Satellite TV’s NASCAR HotPass is essential. An add-on sports, package, it is well worth the subscription.
